„Incentive & Compensation Systems“

Within our holistic consulting approach, we consider the implementation of the strategy from the outset, paying particular attention to the company's incentive and control systems. As these systems are of high relevance, we assist our clients in reviewing and adjusting/realigning variable compensation and incentive models, as well as performance management. This ensures that the focus of management and specialists is directed towards the strategic key performance indicators. Successful transformation processes demonstrate that the review and realignment of incentive systems are critical for shaping the desired corporate culture and sustainable transformation success ("what you get is what you pay for").                                                                                                                                                                  


To ensure effective strategy implementation, a corporate framework (leadership structures) is required that supports this through effective "checks and balances." As part of a governance review, Valboo assesses the roles, interactions, and competency profile of the governing bodies (board of directors, management board, supervisory board/advisory board/board of directors) and analyzes the management and control structures (e.g., through efficiency audits/self-assessment of the supervisory board) and also conducts management audits if desired. „Performance Management 

Review“

The Performance Management Review aims to assess the maturity level of the performance culture and identify obstacles to strategy implementation. 

In the Performance Management Review, the following areas are examined: variable compensation, operational control systems, understanding of performance and success, promotion practices, as well as incentive and reward systems. 

The review is based on document analysis and is supplemented by selective background discussions with the board of directors/management, HR function, and possibly the chairman of the supervisory board.

„Second Opinion“

Companies often procure specialized consultancy services externally because they do not possess the necessary time resources or expertise in-house. Strategic consulting projects typically represent significant investments in corporate development and should be adequately protected solely from a risk management perspective. 

One form of protection is to seek a Second Opinion from a second consulting firm or independent experts, as is common in other areas and regularly practiced, for instance, in critical legal opinions. Valboo offers assistance in this regard and leverages its expertise from consulting and management experience to provide a Second Opinion. 


Valboo Partners act as independent "Quality Assurance" and sparring partners for top management and project stakeholders. The support offered ranges from evaluating ongoing projects to orchestrating (partner selection) planned (new) projects. The range of services is flexibly tailored to the specific needs of the client, typically encompassing the independent and comprehensive evaluation of assumptions, analysis findings, and recommendations of the respective consulting firms by Valboo and its network partners. In addition to technical assessment, a comprehensive contextualization is carried out regarding implementability, such as cultural compatibility, alignment with the top management team, or sustainability criteria impacts.
